This bit of propaganda over at Wisconsin Christian News features a nice photo of Ginny Maziarka standing in front of the West Bend Memorial Library holding a copy of Deal With It along with another unidentifiable book.
The way she cradles those reminded me also of this video where she proudly displays her copy of Deal With It within her kitchen.
Which causes me again to wonder: If Ginny considers these books to be vulgar, sexually-explicit, and even pornographic, I wonder where she keeps them at home? Does she lock them away so any un-sexualized kids can't get access to them? Does she keep them in her bedside table for those lonely nights when Jim is away? If she considers the library to be xxx-rated for possessing these books, then what of her own home? Hmmm....
And, I wonder if she realizes that by purchasing these books, she's encouraged the authors and publishers to continue to produce them. Ah, the irony.....
She is really out of touch with how things are in 2009. She does realize she is raising a stink about what is in a LIBRARY right? A Library. Kids have the world at their fingertips with the world wide web, and she thinks there is some stand to be made about getting a few books out of a library.
ReplyDeleteShe keeps talking about how she just wants the books that are offensive to her labeled and moved to a separate area. Isn't that what the Nazis did to the Jews? The Jews were offensive to the Nazi's, so they labeled them with stars and moved them to concentration camps. That's the end result of Ginny's line of thinking.
I also just don't get conservative republicans - aren't they the ones always talking about how they want the government out of their lives? About how they don't want the government or any other authority making decisions for them? Yet then they want to decide what books others have access to?
And I guess this has all just gone to her head. She made some strange stance about the WBHS harassment policy last year and got a little attention. She probably wasn't ever that popular and she really liked the attention. It made her feel good and important. Now she is doing whatever she can in order to feel relevant. Ugh. I feel so sorry for her... and her family. Does she have any kids? God imagine if one of them were gay...
